Competing Priorities
Apr 01, 2025It is obvious to state that we live in a busy world. Busy work days. Busy families. Busy roads. Busy advertisements. Busy news cycle. Busy social media. Busy minds. Busy, busy, busy.
Allowing it to become overwhelming is a disservice to ourselves. Do you feel your purpose here is to be busy to the point of exhaustion? I doubt it. You probably have a purpose; a way that you serve. You probably have many. But sometimes those priorities can compete and clash with one another.
I find myself in the midst of a very busy week. Some of it is mine but some is for others that I support, which, in reality, is also mine because I am choosing to do it.
I am choosing to do it.
Sometimes it may not feel like it, but we always have a choice. Saying yes is a choice. Saying no is a choice. Not responding is a choice (because people will request things from us and believe that we owe them an answer when, in fact, we do not).
I cancelled something I was looking forward to so I could make room for something else that felt more important. I trust that I will get to do the thing for myself at another time. I rely on and trust divine timing.
I also rely on my hard copy Heart Centered Planner, and a digital calendar to free up my mind from the burden of remembering my busy schedule.
What tactics do you use to manage competing priorities? How do you discern which choices to make? I’m curious. Let me know!
